Happy 4th Birthday Jacob

Dear Jacob,

Better late than never to write you for your birthday. This year has been a year of excitement and blessings with the birth of your baby brother Luke. It has also been a year of sadness with the passing of your GG Joan and Grandma Taylor. You have seen some change with starting a new preschool and making new buddies. Through it all, you have maintained your smile.
You have developed a very strong will for what you believe in which, in all honesty, has lead to some pretty trying moments for everyone this past year, but it seems like you will never allow yourself to be the follower in a situation, and for that I'm grateful.
I will never forget the moment we introduced you to your new baby brother after you waited patiently for nine months for him to make his arrival. Thank you for helping me with my socks when my belly was too big for me to put them on. Thank you for making me laugh when Shaggy from Scooby-Doo ate a big meal and had a belly 'like mommy's' in one episode. It melted my heart each time you kissed, rubbed or talked to my belly. I just know Luke heard every word you spoke into my belly button because nobody can calm him down with the sound of their voice like you do. You are a very compassionate and caring person and it truly shows when you are with your brother.
Each year you change and grow and you never stop amazing me. When your daddy brought home your school pictures this year I literally burst into tears...my baby is nothing like a baby anymore and in that baby's place is a wonderful big boy with a 1000 watt smile and a whole future ahead of him.
I look forward to the New Year and having the pleasure in sharing, guiding, and supporting you. It is an honor being your mommy and I thank God, through the good and bad, that you are my son. I love you Jacob! Happy 4th Birthday and Merry Christmas!

Day 11 of being a Big Brother

Well, we are going on day 11 of my little brother Luke's life. We can all hardly believe it. My mommy's official due date was two days ago, and he is almost two weeks old.
Baby Luke is very sweet and I'm having a great time being a big brother. I love to kiss 'his little head, bum and feet'. He is filling out and he all ready looks different from the little man I met at the hospital on 12/01.
I enjoy watching my mommy and daddy change his diapers, feed him, and I love to help out. I always remind my mommy and daddy that the baby needs to burp when he is feeding. I'm very curious about 'my baby' and his healing circumcision and his umbilical cord that finally fell off today. This means we will soon have Lukie bath time!!! I'm truly amazed at how small my baby is, and love to hear stories about when I was as small as Luke.
My mommy and daddy took me and my baby brother to have pictures taken today and for our Christmas pictures we both are wearing jeans. My mommy washed everything up and noticed how funny it was that my pants were SOOOOOO much longer than my baby brother's, so we took a picture.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past week we have had below zero temperatures, sometimes dipping to -10 degrees, and lots of snow. My poor mommy had to drive my baby brother to his pediatrician checkup when the snow really hit on Monday. It has been so cold, but very pretty! It will most likely be a white Christmas in Northern Nevada this year.

Baby Luke

My Mommy normally posts this stuff, but since she and my brother are still at the hospital, Daddy is going to give it a go.

My baby brother Luke Benjamin Rivers was born on December 1st 2009 at 1:19 PM at St. Marys hospital. He weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and is 20.5 inches long.

I am very excited to finally get to meet him and have come up with his first nickname - Lukee Bear.
