UP, UP and Away

Today my family drove down to Minden where my daddy got in a small 4-seater plane with a man named John to spread the ashes of my late GG over Jobs Peak. This is also where the ashes of my late great-grandpa Don are. I just happened that today would have been my GG's 75 birthday. Me, mommy, grandma and grandpa watched from the airport parking lot as my daddy hit the friendly skies, and we all said a little goodbye to GG, but all it takes is one look at Jobs Peak after a snow storm, or anytime to know that GG will always be with us at a truly beautiful final resting place.

I was a little upset that I couldn't go up in the plane but the process of spreading the ashes is very loud since a window needs to be open and the pilot was worried I would be scared, but when my daddy finally landed he had a big surprise for me in store. John would take me up in the plane for a ride, so me, daddy and grandma all got in the plane and got a tour of Carson and the Carson Valley from about 11,000 feet. It was awesome! I enjoyed every minute of it. We flew over my grandma's house and Empire golf course, Julie and Dean's house and my GG's old house. You could just barely see Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley looked as pretty as ever at 11,000 feet!

I kept thanking John the pilot. He told us that the first time he flew he was about my age and it made such a lasting impression that by the age of 19 he had his pilots license, and knew even at such a young age that he loved to fly. I think I will remember this journey for a long time.
